Job Description and Duties
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires that each full‑time employee receive a 3% reduction in pay in exchange for five (5) hours of PLP 2025 leave credits through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes.
This position provides an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative Human Resources team, leading and mentoring a team of analysts in the development and administration of state civil service examinations. The Supervisor I plays a critical role in ensuring fair, valid, and legally defensible examinations, shaping recruitment practices, and strengthening examination processes. The role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the state workforce while growing your leadership skills in a mission‑driven public service environment.
Responsibilities- Provide effective supervision, leadership, mentoring, and technical direction to analytical staff in the administration of statewide examinations for the Department.
- Plan and distribute workload, set priorities, review staff performance, and oversee staff training and development.
- Provide consultation to managers, administrators, and other Executive staff on the interpretation and application of selection and personnel management policies and procedures.
- Handle the more sensitive and complex projects and problems.
- Represent the Department at meetings and maintain liaison with various control agencies.

This position is headquartered at 9825 Goethe Road in Sacramento. It provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in‑person at least two days per week. The successful candidate must reside in California. Regular and consistent attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position.
