The purpose of the General Manager II (GMII) position is to manage a complex QSR or Casual Dine Restaurant or small cluster of restaurants or points-of-sale in close proximity to each other with annual sales generally in excess of $4M. The GMII ensures the restaurant is clean, staffed, open for business, and operates to high operational and financial standards. The GM uses broad discretion and judgement to make great leadership decisions.
The GMII is responsible for the overall success of the restaurant.
- Lead full P&L ownership for a high‑volume Full‑Service/Casual Dining operation; use financial and operational insights to optimize labor, COGS, sales, and profitability.
- Ensure consistent execution of all opening, closing, safety, and daily readiness procedures.
- Maximize throughput and service quality through effective labor planning, scheduling, and shift coverage.
- Oversee product availability, including ordering, receiving, inventory management, par levels, waste control, and food donation processes.
- Maintain operational equipment and ensure timely preventive maintenance, repairs, NSF compliance, and audit readiness.
- Implement revenue‑driving programs, corporate/partner promotions, and brand initiatives.
- Utilize and train leaders on MIV, Crunch Time, Kronos, and other operational systems.
- Lead, develop, and coach managers and associates; manage performance, training, and leadership development.
- Oversee the full talent lifecycle: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, development, promotions, and separations.
- Build a high‑engagement, inclusive culture that champions diversity, equity, inclusion, accountability, and recognition.
- Ensure compliant and complete onboarding/offboarding, including orientation, badging, OJT, and documentation accuracy.
- Maintain current and accurate employee records and contact information.
- Maintain expert knowledge of brand standards, service expectations, CBAs, landlord requirements, and operational protocols, ensuring team compliance.
- Uphold restaurant ambiance, cleanliness, visual standards, and full guest‑readiness at all times.
- Resolve complex guest and associate concerns using sound judgment and effective service recovery approaches.
- Support adoption of new technologies and tools that improve efficiency and guest experience.
- Ensure compliance with all health, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety regulations.
- Train and enforce wellness checks, safety practices, and public health protocols, including COVID‑19 requirements.
- Lead and participate in internal and external audits, ensuring timely corrective actions and continuous operational excellence.
- 5–7+ years progressive restaurant leadership in high‑volume Full-Service or Casual Dining operations.
- 3+ years of direct P&L management with proven multi-cycle success in similar restaurant types.
- Experience with both union and non-union environments is an asset.
- Formal training or a degree in Food Service Management or Culinary Arts may substitute for part of the required experience.
- Strong leadership in people development, delegation, conflict resolution, and accountability.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, balance operational demands, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proven success leading large teams in fast-paced, complex environments.
- Expertise in labor management, scheduling, inventory, ordering, waste control, and operational equipment oversight.
- Strong understanding of full-service hospitality standards and guest service expectations.
- Ability to execute brand initiatives, promotions, and local sales-driving programs.
- Proficiency with Kronos, Crunch Time, MIV, and similar operational or financial tools, or the ability to quickly master them.
