SUMMARY
Reads and interprets drawings, specifications, industry and workmanship standards. Performs incoming and other inspection of mechanical components, using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, indicators, etc. Performs visual inspection of mechanical and electrical in-process components, subassemblies and final products. Records inspection and test results and maintains inspection records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder direction of the Quality Manager:
- Performs receiving inspection of mechanical components as needed.
- Performs in-process and final inspection of electro-mechanical assemblies
- Performs mechanical/dimensional inspection using plug and thread gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparator, profilometer, coordinate-measuring machine and other mechanical measurement equipment as needed.
- Conducts visual sorting on a variety of components such as: machined parts, gears, electrical components, stators, rotors and sub-assemblies or finished goods. Performs in-process inspection of wiring, hardware, and other parameters.
- Documents inspection results and details all non-conformances.
- Performs first article or follow up inspections of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Equipment calibration coordination and perform in-house mechanical calibration
- Backup and support all quality team functions
- Cross train and develop the quality team
- Other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager
Candidate will have opportunities to expand their knowledge base in Quality functions with calibration practices, Defective Material systems, additional measurement equipment, internal auditing, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEKnowledge and experience in mechanical inspection as required, using all instruments shown above. Ability to learn new tasks and follow instructions, written or verbal.
COMPUTER SKILLSProficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and able to use MRP systems.
COMMUNICATION SKILLSMust be able to effectively communicate verbally, read and write in English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to lift up to 25 lbs. Good or corrected vision to perform visual inspection of small, fine detail components.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe candidate must have the ability to work in a Shop or semi-clean room environment.
