Apprentice- Jr. Production Designer

Pay Range: $25-30 per hour (depending on experience)

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Jr. Production Designer to join our team in California. This non-exempt, hourly position is responsible for the conceptual, technical, fabrication and assembly of components in accordance with approved blueprint plans, specifications, and quality standards.

The ideal candidate has experience working with aluminum and steel, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and can work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced shop environment while complying with all applicable safety regulations. We design, fabricate and install architectural signs for large-scale clients such as Starbucks, Raleys, Jack & the Box, Wendys, REI and Chevron.

• Conceptual/technical designing along with mechanical renderings
• Perform aluminum and steel welding in accordance with project specifications and quality standards
• Utilize Corel Draw to design, illustrate and blueprint scope
• Read, interpret, and work from fabrication drawings, blueprints, and plans
• Accurately read and use measuring tools, including tape measures
• Prepare materials and components for fabrication and painting
• Safely operate shop tools and equipment and demonstrate required competency
• Fabricate and wire various types of signage in accordance with job specifications
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments
• Work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively as part of a team
• Follow all company policies, OSHA requirements, and California workplace safety regulations

• At least 1 year experience in design and fabrication
• Experience with aluminum and steel welding
• Ability to learn, apply, and retain new fabrication methods and processes
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
• Computer savvy and can learn new programs fast.
• Ability to read and understand fabrication plans and technical drawings
• Knowledge of fabrication and wiring methods related to signage
• Ability to successfully complete OSHA 10 training (or obtain certification upon hire)
