Position Overview:We have an immediate opening for a Production Engineer to support the production of Passenger Rail Coaches, Locomotives, and Light Rail Vehicles by providing timely engineering support to manufacturing. In this role, you will evaluate and resolve design-related issues, develop engineering solutions, and implement design changes to support production and field service. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Field Service teams to ensure the successful execution of engineering requirements while minimizing production impacts.
The ideal candidate takes ownership of technical challenges, communicates effectively across cross-functional teams, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality rail vehicles to our customers.
- Conduct engineering evaluations for design-related issues identified in production or in revenue service. Lead the resolution of complex issues that require collaboration across multiple engineering groups to minimize production schedule impact.
- Ensuring the fit, form and function of the specified design is conveyed to and carried out on the production floor.
- Creating repair procedures, field modification instructions, and design fixes, depending on the platform and the complexity of the issues.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- Experience designing with 3D CAD modeling software (completed coursework can be considered as experience).
- Experience using SAP or another Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods while working in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to climb stairs and access rail vehicles, platforms, and production work areas as needed.
- Ability to occasionally bend, kneel, stoop, and reach to inspect components and support production activities.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely in a manufacturing environment.
Candidates should be willing to work in non-climate-controlled environments and inclement weather if required or if applicable.
