As a Group Lead Weld in our Coach Weld department, you will provide the coordination for daily duties, work assignments to team members, closely monitor the manufacturing progress, and provide support of assigned employees.
What your day will look like:- Define and optimize production workflows, including work steps, sequencing, labor durations, and station/cell-level scope to support efficient manufacturing operations.
- Develop and maintain standardized work instructions while coordinating production schedules to meet operational and delivery objectives.
- Lead the implementation of manufacturing improvements, process optimizations, and new technologies to enhance productivity, quality, and operational performance.
- Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to provide process control guidance, improve product quality, and drive dimensional accuracy.
- Promote a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with safety requirements and proactively escalating operational issues to management and appropriate support teams.
What will make you successful:
- High School Graduate/GED
- Minimum of 2 Years’ experience in a Welding Manufacturing Environment.
- Demonstrated strong Mechanical and Welding aptitude.
- Exhibits ability to utilize SAP proficiently.
- Proven ability to train and mentor team members.
- Experience in successfully leading a diverse team in a production environment.
- Track record of actively engaging in problem-solving and implementing effective countermeasures within assigned area of responsibility.
- Proficient understanding of blue prints, WPS and welding symbology.
- 3 + years of experience planning and supporting launch of new production lines in a low-speed production environment (e.g. rail, aviation/aerospace, naval, heavy equipment, etc.).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (Or Equivalent Experience).
- Welding experience in the rail business, preferably in light rail, heavy rail, or related production, is needed.
- Practical experience in Customer Service / Maintenance / After Market businesses and technologies within the rail industry.

- Frequently walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently required to climb stairs, steps, and ladders
- Frequently required to work on elevated platforms.
- Occasionally lift and move at most 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
