Job Description

The Center for Collaborative Planning (CCP) promotes health equity by growing the capacity of communities to shape, influence and lead social change. Our vision is for all people to live in connected, equitable and inclusive communities. CCP is a program of the Public Health Institute. The Community Engagement Specialist (Community Outreach Specialist I) provides support to a variety of CCP projects and initiatives, including implementation of local community outreach and education projects and logistics support for meetings and conferences.

This is a full‑time, time‑limited position that will begin on March 2 2026 and end on June 30 2026. The incumbent must be based in Sacramento County or Yolo County and is expected to maintain a home‑based work location while traveling to in‑person work sites in Sacramento County (county offices, community‑based organizations, community events, etc.).

Full salary range: $60,081 to $85,645 per year. Typical hiring range: $60,081 (minimum) to $72,863 (midpoint) for a 100% FTE. Starting salary is based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience and budget availability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Outreach & Education – 95%
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate community and youth workshops, meetings, and special events, including coordination of logistical arrangements with vendors and contractors.
  • Recruit individuals (youth and adults) and organizations for participation in prevention and community health projects including businesses, community centers, churches, schools, and other community‑based organizations.
  • Follow up with volunteers who have expressed interest in working on prevention/community projects and help to organize and coordinate their participation.
  • Assist with community education and information dissemination activities for youth and parents/caregivers, including presentations at trainings and posting on social media platforms.
  • Staff vendor tables and other activities as needed at outreach and community events.
  • Assist with identifying venues and opportunities for outreach events, educational workshops, and youth and parent involvement in advocacy programs.
  • Assist with event setup/takedown, supply inventory and restocking, and other logistical duties.
  • Conduct online research, compile findings, and prepare reports for project use.
  • Expand and maintain outreach database.
  • Track outreach and education activities and assist with data entry into statewide tracking systems.
  • Support the evaluation of project progress and deliverables; prepare summaries, reports, and correspondence on outreach efforts.
  • Travel to various in‑person work sites in Sacramento County and to meetings and conferences throughout California.
  • Produce project materials including outreach, presentation, and meeting materials.
  • Support press and media outreach.
  • Assist staff with general communications needs.
Other – 5%
  • Provide administrative support including conference and event preparation and organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, or substitute with 4 additional years of related experience.
