Job Summary
The CN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations, directs and acts as a resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned and promotes compliance and support for policies. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous, and patient‑centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care;
delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations. Autonomous nursing care is the ability to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously in line with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance.
Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Minimum Qualifications- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- UC Davis Moderate Sedation Certification within 6 months of hire
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- At least three (3) years of recent RN experience in ambulatory care
- Recent RN experience in surgical specialty
- Recent RN experience with procedural compliance
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent RN experience in operating room or procedural room
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent RN experience with moderate sedation
- EPIC experience
- RN telephonic triage
- Experience providing patient education and caring for patients with Otolaryngology diagnosis.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
- Knowledge of current trends in nursing.

- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR)
- Ambulatory Care Nursing Certification (AMB‑BC)
- Bachelor of Science, Nursing (BSN)
- At least two (2) years of ENT ambulatory experience
- Experience and advanced understanding of the medical management of Otolaryngology diagnosis
- Experience providing patient education and caring for patients with Otolaryngology diagnosis
- Referral experience
- Knowledge and experience related to critical care and emergency situations
- Demonstrated critical thinking and situational awareness skills.

Registered nurse in the Otolaryngology department at UC Davis Medical Center provides care to adult and pediatric patients with a variety of medical needs. Patients in the ENT procedure room include Laryngectomy patients, minor orthopaedic cases, stent removal, plastic, and ENT procedures. The position will also train and cover the department's telephone triage and provide clinical assessment service to patients and/or caregivers/relatives resulting in a safe and appropriate clinical decision.
