Opportunity information:
Sutter Medical Group (SMG) seeks a Pediatric Intensivist Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our collaborative Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team in Sacramento, CA.
- 20 total beds
, divided into:- 10 Pediatric CVICU beds
- 10 PICU beds
- Average daily census
: 16-17 patients - Acuity includes a diverse mix of medical and cardiac critical care patients
- Strong multidisciplinary collaboration with physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, and ancillary teams
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU and CVICU
- Perform assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and manage complex medical conditions
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and other subspecialty teams
- Participate in procedures, bedside rounds, and care coordination with families
- Contribute positively to a supportive, team‑oriented department culture
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- Acute‑care pediatric certification required
- 2‑year of pediatric critical care experience preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
