Opportunity at a Glance:
Collaborating with academic partners, faculty and staff, the Specialist provides strategies and academic reinforcement to students throughout their academic program and as they prepare for success with the NCLEX‑RN exam. The Specialist works with students individually and in small groups, assessing learning styles, identifying strengths, and discovering opportunities for academic development. Specialists create and implement personalized remediation plans for students as they prepare for academic and professional success and support all clinical learning lab and simulated patient care learning experiences.
- Facilitation of simulation‑based experiences (SBE) and labs, including equipment maintenance, ordering supplies, setup, and cleanup.
- Demonstrate current, detailed, accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX‑RN and currency in nursing practice to provide academic support.
- Assist in the creation of Next Generation NCLEX activities and workshops.
- Demonstrate effective behaviors and accountability in meeting service excellence standards for students, team members, and external agencies: friendliness and courtesy, professional environment, effective communication, and first‑class service.
- Communicate and document (report) students’ academic and co‑curricular progress toward achievement of student and program learning outcomes to academic leadership (e.g., retention committee).
- Assist in developing and implementing detailed clinically based scenarios for simulated learning experiences, including use of high‑fidelity patient simulators.
- Coordinate and supervise lab experiences to ensure students meet course objectives.
- Staff open labs and provide individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills as required by course objectives.
- Provide individual or group tutoring.
- Participate in outreach to students with at‑risk referrals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – Required.
- Master’s Degree in Education – Preferred.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing – Preferred.
- 1+ year experience in an academic environment supporting classroom instruction or specialized tutoring – Preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate via telephone, computer, and in person.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Must have excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must be a team player, willing to share and exchange.
- Maintenance of a current, unencumbered RN license – Required.
- BLS CPR – Required.
- BLS CPR instructor certification – Required.
- ACLS and/or PALS – Preferred.
In support of pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position is between $49,199 and $86,253. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job‑related factors such as experience, training, geographic location, licensure and certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility. The position qualifies for the following benefits.
