Nursing Education Consultant (JC-521374)
Salary: $7,207.50 - $10,825.00 per month (minimum salary determined by classification or alternate range for new‑to‑state candidates).
Location:
State of California – Natomas (Office available in Sacramento). Hybrid work possible.
Under general supervision of the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (Board) Supervising Nursing Education Consultant (SNEC), the Nursing Education Consultant (NEC) provides expertise on statutory, regulatory, educational and nursing principles related to licensed vocational nurses (LVN) and psychiatric technicians (PT).
Responsibilities include:
- Developing, reviewing, and approving curricula for vocational nursing and psychiatric technician programs.
- Ensuring programs meet statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Providing guidance to educational institutions on curriculum development and program accreditation.
- Collaborating with community agencies, tribal governments, and underserved populations to improve educational outcomes.
- Representing the Board at meetings and conferences.
- Traveling as needed to meet with staff, schools, and programs.
To be eligible for this position, the applicant must have met the exam requirements for the Nursing Education Consultant classification, with the most recent cut‑off date on August 14, 2026. Applicants must also meet the classification specification and pass a background investigation.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Background in nursing education or related field.
- Knowledge of LVN and PT regulations and educational practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze complex educational and regulatory issues.
- Preferred:
Master’s degree in nursing or related field.
- Experience in nursing or health care regulatory review.
- Experience communicating with educational institutions and health care providers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large workloads and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer programs.
