Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR - COLORADO DESERT DISTRICT / ROADS AND TRAILS / CUYAMACA RANCH STATE PARK
The reporting location for this position is Cuyamaca Rancho State Park Headquarters in Julian, California. This position will work under the general direction of Park Maintenance Chief III.
The Park Maintenance Supervisor (PMS) is primarily responsible for supervising and developing the Colorado Desert Districts Road and trails program. The PMS is responsible for the management of the trails program and supervision of the Trails Crew. Oversee equipment maintenance ensuring that all equipment is kept operable and safe, will schedule and monitor the expenditure of seasonal salaries, operating expenses and other funds allocated to the trails crew while also serving the visiting public by providing accurate general information.
This assignment offers a diverse opportunity to work in a busy park with a heavy workload involving budgeting and supervising trail facilities, and equipment, 120 miles of roads and trails, vegetation management, and being involved in prescribed burning.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

Working Conditions
Typical work activities involve frequent and prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Exposure to various and extreme weather conditions, especially heat. Hiking/walking trails. Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee receives a temporary reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits. The percentage of the temporary salary reduction and the number of PLP 2025 leave credits are determined by the position's assigned bargaining unit.
