The Sacramento Marina is a recreational, municipal marina that operates 24/7. The facility has 475 slips, 13 docks, a fueling station, a store, and a public launch ramp. The Marina Aide is a part‑time, non‑career position with hours ranging from 8 to 24 per week depending on season and operational needs. Working weekends and most holidays, including major holidays such as 4th of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day, is required.
This position adheres to strict safety protocols, including wearing a Personal Flotation Device while on the docks and enforcing marina rules and regulations. The role is physically demanding and requires the ability to carry and climb ladders, lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds, tie ropes, operate boats, and conduct security checks on the docks.
IDEAL CANDIDATEThe ideal candidate is familiar with boating and the boating community, comfortable working around waterways, and capable of performing in all weather conditions. A team player who can also work independently, is a self‑starter, follows verbal and written directions, and upholds professionalism while working with diverse populations.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Collect fees for berth rentals, snack bar sales, and services.
- Inspect marina facilities for fire hazards, leaking boats, defective moorings, and unauthorized persons.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on docks and equipment.
- Pick up litter and remove trash.
- Clean docks, stairs, office, and perform grounds maintenance.
- Pump out and clean restroom facilities.
- Pump gasoline.
- Enforce regulations governing use of the marina.
- Operate a motorboat.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Knowledge:
No special knowledge requirements.
Ability to:
- Swim.
- Work irregular shifts, including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during work.
Experience:
No experience required.
Education:
Ability to read and write in English at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
Special Qualification
Driver License:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License at the time of appointment.
