Job Description and Duties
PARK MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT / PICACHO STATE RECREATION AREA / OCOTILLO WELLS DISTRICT
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location is Picacho SRA maintenance shop, 4900 Picacho Road, Winterhaven, CA 92283. The Park Maintenance Assistant works under the direction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor. The Park Maintenance Assistant will provide cleaning and maintenance support to Picacho SRA facilities. Under the direction of the Park Maintenance Supervisor, the position may act as liaison with volunteer and stakeholder groups on behalf of the District for maintenance-related projects.
As part of the maintenance team, will be responsible for facility maintenance of the Picacho SRA, campground facilities, fences, and trails. The position will participate in providing leadership to seasonal maintenance staff, along with leading seasonal employees in other service areas or park units within the District as directed.
The incumbent's work schedule will be Wednesday - Sunday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm.
Possession of a valid Class C driver's license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver's license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver's license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
This is a uniformed position, and the employee must comply with all applicable Departmental uniform and grooming standards.
Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
State housing is required.
* Special Requirement/Condition of Employment:
Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements after the state housing may be required as requested by HR.

Working Conditions
Typical work activities involve frequent periods of bending, stooping and lifting.
