11:30pm - 8am Monday - Friday with alternating Saturday.*
* ** The Target Pay for this position is $22.74 an hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.*
* ** This is a temporary position that has a potential end date in six months.*
* ** PURPOSE OF JOB:*
* The Parasitology Laboratory Technician performs laboratory analyses and tests.  In addition, they prepare samples, set up instruments, run tests and read, interpret, and release results.

+ Sets up,runs, reads, andreleases lab tests.

+ Meetall minimum departmentrequirements for Para and Giardia reading/releasing rates.

+ Exercises judgment in evaluating and reporting results.

+ Performs equipment maintenance activities.

+ Awareness of quality control andcalibration.

+ Assists lead or supervisor with rechecks as directed.

+ Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures.  Maintains clean and organized work area.  Restocks supplies as needed.

+ May be cross trained to perform other duties, such as performing less complextests, including duties performed by Para Aide.

+ Participates in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation.

+ Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.

** EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE:

* High school diploma or equivalent required, Science degree or vet technician experience is preferred. Prior lab experience preferred.

** REQUIRED

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

*
* + Laboratory skills, with experience settingup, running, an dreading lab testsand operating labinstruments preferred.

+ Knowledge ofmedical and laboratoryterminology, Parasitologyprocedures, equipment,and familiarity with amicroscope preferred

+ General science background

+ Attention to detail and organized with ability to multi-task ina fast-paced environment

+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team

+ The ability to communicate information so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate informationinthese situations

+ Positive, can-do attitude

+ General computer skills

** WORK ENVIRONMENT:*
* + Stationary Position- must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours.

+ Constantly operates acomputer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently.

+ Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch

+ Maybe required tolift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.

+ Heavy microscopic work

+ The abilityto observe detailsat close range.
