Position Summary: A rapidly growing specialty pharmaceutical company seeks Microbiologists at all levels (I, II, Sr.) to support microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, method validation, and quality assurance activities across manufacturing. The role ensures products meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Location: Sacramento
Pay: $80,000–95,000 DOE
Type: Direct Hire
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, utilities, and manufacturing environments.
- Conduct sterility testing, bacterial endotoxin testing (BET), microbial limits testing (MLT), preservative effectiveness testing (PET), and microbial identification testing.
- Support environmental monitoring programs for classified manufacturing areas.
- Execute microbiological method validations, method transfers, and qualification studies.
- Assist with disinfectant efficacy studies, microbiological hold time studies, and container closure integrity assessments.
- Document laboratory activities accurately and maintain complete, compliant records.
- Prepare laboratory reports, protocols, technical summaries, and SOPs.
- Participate in investigations related to out‑of‑specification (OOS), out‑of‑trend (OOT), environmental excursions, and contamination events.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP regulations, USP requirements, and company procedures.
- Participate in internal and external audits and inspections.
- Identify opportunities for laboratory process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong knowledge of microbiological testing methodologies and laboratory practices.
- Working knowledge of USP microbiology chapters and cGMP regulations.
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring programs and aseptic manufacturing.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to investigate and solve technical problems independently.
- Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related discipline, plus 2 years of microbiology laboratory experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred.
- 2‑8 years experience (Levels I – Senior) with sterility testing, BET, MLT, environmental monitoring, water testing, and method validation.
- Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, compounding, or sterile operations preferred.
- Knowledge of FDA regulations and cGMP requirements preferred.
