The Department of Radiology, at the University of California Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time Junior Specialist.

The Junior Specialist will contribute to scholarly research activities within the Department of Radiology under the general supervision of Dr. Andrew Hernandez. The incumbent will actively participate in publishable research by assisting with the design, implementation, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of research findings while developing continued expertise in quantification of contrast administration and energy consumption in CT and MRI.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • I. RESEARCH (80% Effort) pending continued funding
    • A. Conduct research in environmental sustainability and energy efficiency under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
    • B. Assist with the design, implementation, and refinement of research studies, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and documentation.
    • C. Contribute to publishable research through literature reviews, preparation of figures, abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, and other scholarly products, with opportunities for authorship or acknowledgments, as appropriate.
    • D. Collaborate with faculty, research staff, students, and other members of the research team while maintaining compliance with university and regulatory policies.
    • E. Present research findings at laboratory meetings, seminars, or scientific conferences, as appropriate.
  • II. PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AND ACTIVITY (10% Effort)
    • A. Participate in seminars, workshops, laboratory meetings, and other professional development activities related to medical imaging and environmental sustainability.
    • B. Maintain current knowledge of scientific literature and developments relevant to the research program.
  • III. UNIVERSITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE (10 % Effort)
    • A. Participate in departmental service activities, laboratory operations, mentoring of undergraduate students, or other University and public service activities, as appropriate.
  • Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign degree) in Medical Imaging, Radiologic Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Public Health, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, or a closely related scientific field.
    • Demonstrated interest in research through coursework, research experience, internships, laboratory experience, or other scholarly activities.
    • Knowledge of basic research principles, including data collection, analysis, and documentation.
    • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
