Ordering Clerk​/Receiver

Position Overview

The Ordering Clerk manages and coordinates the store's ordering and inventory control processes to maintain efficient and accurate stock levels.

• Place and manage orders for store merchandise, ensuring timely and accurate procurement of items.
• Verify and track orders from suppliers, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain relationships with suppliers and salespeople to ensure optimal order fulfillment.
• Oversee department standards, keeping accurate stock levels, proper codes, and good rotation of items.
• Verify invoices for accurate billing and maintain inventory control.
• Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts and adjust orders accordingly.
• Review all DSD deliveries to ensure accurate and timely receipt of goods.
• Follow safety protocols and regulations, using PPE correctly and operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and barcode scanners safely.
• Monitor for and report any theft, damage, or loss of inventory and take steps to minimize shrinkage.
• Report store conditions and concerns to store management promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
• Familiarity with standard warehouse practices, safety protocols, and equipment.
• Awareness of grocery product categories for proper handling and storage.
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and related health and safety regulations.
• Understanding of ordering procedures.

• Accuracy in stock level documentation.
• Proficiency with inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
• Effective verbal and written communication for coordination with staff and documentation.

• Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies or storage problems.
• Manage time efficiently to complete tasks within deadlines, especially during busy periods.
• Adapt flexibly to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks.

• Stand and walk for extended periods; lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
• Climb ladders for elevated tasks.
• Maintain communication with customers and team members in a fast‑paced environment.
• Operate equipment to move or store products and displays.

• Work hours vary; weekends, evenings, and holidays required; typically 8‑hour shifts for full‑time employees.
• Indoor, climate‑controlled environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.
• Interactions with customers and staff in a fast‑paced retail setting.
• Dress code: professional and presentable attire as directed by store management.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  Grocery or Warehouse Clerk experience.
