Position: Wine Rep / Broker

Merchants of Thirst is a California-based importer and distributor built around wines with character and honesty. We work directly with independent growers and winemakers who farm organically, prioritize sustainability, and keep intervention in the cellar to a minimum. These are wines with soul, expressive, clean, and true to where they come from.

Our team comes out of hospitality, production, and retail, so we approach distribution with service at the core. The portfolio leans natural, but the through line is quality: fresh, balanced, fault‑free bottles you can pour for natty bars or classic white‑tablecloth restaurants without apology.

We believe in long‑term partnerships, straight talk, and championing producers we actually drink and stand behind. Our clients include chef‑driven restaurants, neighborhood shops, natural wine bars, and boutique grocers.

We’re seeking an experienced wine broker / wine rep to expand our natural wine portfolio across the Sacramento area. You must live in the territory. The field is wide open with huge potential, plus you’ll start with a handful of active accounts already in place.

What you’ll do:
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing accounts in Sacramento, and surrounding areas.
  • Prospect and open new accounts to expand the territory
  • Represent our producers with energy, honesty, and deep product knowledge
  • Track sales activity and stay in regular communication with our team
What we’re looking for:
  • Previous wine sales experience is a must (distribution, retail, or restaurant wine buyer background)
  • Strong self‑starter who can independently build and manage a territory
  • Passion for wine, especially natural and small‑production wines
  • Clear, professional communication and solid follow‑through
  • Adding our book to an existing portfolio is fine as long as there’s no conflict of interest
