Assistant Biologist
Wood Rodgers' Environmental Department is seeking an Assistant Biologist / Environmental Planner to join the Wood Rodgers team. Wood Rodgers provides forward-thinking environmental and engineering solutions for a diverse range of public and private projects. Our expertise spans local, state, and federally funded initiatives, with a core focus on transportation and water resources. We specialize in designing and implementing solutions for roadways, bridges, highways, interchanges, bicycle and pedestrian pathways, flood control systems, stormwater management, levees, pump stations, and various private development projects.
Join us in developing innovative strategies to address environmental challenges on impactful projects within your community, across the region, and throughout California. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience working in a similar role, helping to complete biological field surveys, prepare written documentation of findings; and/or provide environmental support during construction. This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position.
Day In The Life As A Wood Rodgers' Assistant Biologist
- Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental planning, or related environmental science field.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in biological resources consulting or environmental planning in California, including biological surveys, preparing technical studies, and biological monitoring.
- Solid understanding of federal and California environmental regulations, including the Endangered Species Acts, Clean Water Act, NEPA, and CEQA.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with experience preparing environmental studies and reports.
- Proficiency in GPS/GIS applications and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in time management with the ability to work independently and in team environments.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk for the entire duration of workday
- Ability to travel to job sites (possibly for multiple days), including travel throughout California.
- Ability to work in the outdoor environment with physical demands, including but not limited to hiking/walking distances on uneven terrain, contact with insects and wildlife, as well as variable weather conditions, such as elevated temperatures (high or low) and inclement weather.

Offers will be based on several factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, training, and location. Base pay is just one part of the comprehensive compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
