Field Biologist – Bishop, CA
ERM is hiring Field Biologists to conduct surveys and monitoring for large construction projects in Bishop, CA. This is a full‑time, limited‑term position (12 months, with extension possible). Candidates must be flexible, responsive, and able to work in varied schedules, locations, and tasks as needed by the project.
Responsibilities- Conduct pre‑construction rare plant and special status species surveys across project areas.
- Work independently from remote locations.
- Collect electronic data and produce daily reports.
- Compile comprehensive survey reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to ERM’s safety program.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology or related discipline (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 seasons of experience with water/wetland monitoring and rare plant identification.
- Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather and challenging terrain.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work extended periods in the field.
- Willingness to travel and overnight stays as required.
- Flexible availability for weekends, holidays, evenings.
- Independent, effective problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Valid driver’s license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle.
- Fluency in English;
Spanish language skills are a plus.
Annual base pay: $74,825 – $96,901 ($35.97–$46.58/hr). Limited‑term, non‑exempt. Bonus pay is not available for casual and fixed‑term/Flexforce employees.
Benefits include paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life and disability insurance for regular employees (20+ hours per week) and limited benefits for fixed‑term employees. Casual employees are not entitled to benefits.
