Job Description and Duties

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC / ORANGE COAST DISTRICT / SOUTH SECTOR / SAN CLEMENTE STATE BEACH

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

The working schedule for this position is Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

The reporting location for this position is San Clemente State Beach in San Clemente, CA. This position will work under the general supervision of the Park Maintenance Chief I.

The Orange Coast District is looking for a motivated individual to fill the Maintenance Mechanic position. The Maintenance Mechanic performs a vital role by inspecting and making repairs on all park systems within the South Sector of the Orange Coast District, including Backflow devices, HVAC systems, natural and propane gas Water Heater systems, Pay Shower systems, Lift Station Control and Alarm panels as well manage the Districts Locksmith program.

This position will perform miscellaneous skilled work throughout the South Sector of the Orange Coast District to perform minor building construction, general maintenance repair work, plumbing, maintenance on heating water and sewer systems, electrical maintenance, and other related work. The Maintenance Mechanic acts as lead on projects assigned to field staff in skilled and semi-skilled projects. Responsibilities including ensuring all mandatory State, Federal, and Local Regulatory agency requirements are met.

Once hired, the incumbent will be required to conduct on-the-job Locksmith training.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.
