Field Service Technician

Kelly Engineering seeks a skilled Field Service Technician to join our client's team. In this role, you'll travel to customer sites to install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex automation and laser-based systems. You'll receive extensive paid training (approximately 5–6 months) before independently supporting customers in the field, with ongoing training as new technologies are introduced.

This is an excellent opportunity for technicians with strong electrical troubleshooting skills who enjoy travel, solving technical problems, and working directly with customers.

Qualifications / Experience
  • Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field OR equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in field service, equipment maintenance, technical support, industrial repair, or similar roles.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and computer system diagnostics.
  • Experience working with robotics, industrial automation, laser systems, or mechatronic equipment.
  • Proficiency using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis, document findings, and clearly communicate technical information.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 70 lbs., climbing, and performing physically demanding work.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%.
Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, maintain, and repair industrial equipment at customer facilities.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Perform equipment upgrades, retrofits, and software installations.
  • Train customers on equipment operation and basic maintenance.
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Independently troubleshoot complex technical issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers while delivering high-quality service.
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule.
  • Follow company safety procedures and service standards.
  • Travel extensively throughout North America, with occasional international travel.
