About this RoleFiber Tel is looking for CDL Laborers for our Sacramento, CA location.
This is a travel position focused on Sacramento, Vallejo, and Santa Rosa
.
In this role you will support all phases of utility construction for various telecom projects. Duties include general labor related to telecommunications construction as directed by the Foreman/Supervisor. Services may include placing poles, anchors and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, performing inside wiring, cabling, and testing and maintenance services.
Pay: $22-27/hr, DOE
What You ll DoResponsibilities:
All phases of telecommunication construction include but are not limited to loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment.
- Hand dig using shovel and mechanical tools
- Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling
- Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
- Work in congested or remote areas
- Maintain visual and audible contact with crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
- Perform general construction work under direction of Foreman/Supervisor
- Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to regulations, procedures, and policies
- Learn all aspects of the crew and assist the operator and foreman as assigned
- Setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites
- Develop an understanding of buried utilities
- Lift heavy equipment and supplies
Qualifications:
- Class A CDL
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license
- A good driving record is required
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment safely
- Basic knowledge of and ability to use hand tools safely
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous construction experience, preferably in telecommunications
- Ability to perform all duties in telecommunication construction
- Ability to travel
Working Conditions:
This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates outdoors and is exposed to weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and wind. The work environment may vary in terrain, traffic, and settings. The role may expose you to natural gas and electrical hazards. Moderate to loud noise is expected.
Physical Requirements:
The employee must be able to stand for long periods (up to 12 hours), tolerate extreme weather, follow safety instructions, and perform lifting and repetitive movements. Regularly lift up to 75 pounds. The role requires accurate vision at various ranges and depth perception.
