Job Summary
This position reports to the PO&M's Sr. Superintendent of Plant Operations & Maintenance. This position has the primary responsibility for the supervision and management of the critical and non-critical Preventative Maintenance Program for electrical systems emergency power 1/20/208V-12KV at UC Davis Health. Incumbent provides direct supervision of skilled craft electricians who have functional responsibilities to inspect, service, repair, and test electrical wiring, transformers, circuit breakers and other electrical systems.
Must know how to use testing devices such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, fluke meters, equipment and emergency response/repair to utilities as a result of equipment failure, fire or natural disasters on a 24-hourt 7-days per week basis 365 days per year,

- Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
- Possess a certificate of completion from a recognized union apprenticeship program, University apprenticeship program, accredited trade school or have the equivalent amount of experience and training comparable to a journey level craftsperson in Carpentry trade.
- Minimum 3-year experience managing Electrical trade.
- Minimum 3-year experience as a foreman, lead or supervisor in a Health Care Facility
- Ten years of journey-level experience in the electrical trade, with comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems.
- Project management experience and skills to deliver projects on time, in budget, and within scope.
- Demonstrated knowledge with personnel management and supervision principles and practices including organization, definition of position descriptions, goal setting and performance review, recruitment and hiring, disciplinary actions, work planning and scheduling, training and professional development and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated profiecney in Microsoft Suite which includes Word. Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Skills to use testing devices such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, fluke meters, equipment and emergency response/repair to utilities as a result of equipment failure, fire or natural disasters.
- Technical knowledge of multiple technical trades and skill levels.
- Leadership skills to manage personnel in multiple technical trades and skill levels.
- Skills to understand and interpret technical and mechanical specifications/data of blueprints, drawings, detailed plans and instructions.
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to interact and covey information/instructions to diverse groups of individuals.
- Knowledge of job safety principles and practices required by state and federal mandates (examples:
National Electric Code, NFPA (70E), Electrical Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety, California Code of Regulations). - Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations applicable to multiple craft trades.
- Skill to develop implement and conduct technical training and safety programs.
- Strong written communication skills to convey instructions, directions, information to diverse group of individuals.
- Computer skills to manage work assignments; plan, track, manage costs and schedules.
- Must have the administrative ability to keep accurate record accounts of labor time and material costs.
- Ability to learn and observe the safety policies and guidelines set up by the department.
- Knowledge of the Joint Commission regulations and OSHPD

The Plant Operations & Maintenance (PO&M) Department is a 24-hour, seven day a week operation responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of buildings, systems, and grounds at UC Davis Health that includes 148 acres and structures that total 4 million GMSF. Plant Operations & Maintenance is one of the largest support providers to clinical, administrative, research, School of Medicine and School of Nursing departments throughout the Health System.
UC Davis Health is one of several UC campuses that have their own cogeneration plant, central distribution plants. Cogeneration (Combined Heat and Power or CHP) is the simultaneous production of electricity and heat, both of which are used throughout the Medical Center Campus and is supported by Plant Operations & Maintenance 24x7x365.
