Position Overview:
We are an established Fortune 500 company with a stable client base, and we are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team on 2nd shift. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and systems in our Sacramento facility to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous production operations. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing skilled industrial maintenance and repair work to keep production equipment, electrical systems, and facility infrastructure operating safely and efficiently. This role focuses on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and timely repairs on mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing or industrial environment. The Technician II will work with minimal supervision, support continuous improvement efforts, and help mentor junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on production equipment and facility systems, following lockout/tagout and safety procedures.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on motors, drives, pumps, conveyors, boilers, and other mechanical systems to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform timely corrective maintenance to restore production, including wiring, motor replacements, and control system repairs.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and maintenance manuals to complete repairs and installations accurately.
- Install, adjust, and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems, valves, and actuators as needed to support equipment operation.
- Assist with PLC troubleshooting and basic programming changes in coordination with control technicians or engineers.
- Fabricate and weld basic components or fixtures to support repairs and improvements, and perform metalwork as required.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives, documenting findings and recommending process or equipment modifications.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts inventory, and work order documentation using CMMS or other tracking systems.
- Train and mentor Maintenance Technician I or apprentices, sharing best practices for safe and effective maintenance work.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of industrial maintenance or maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing or processing environment.
- Strong electrical skills, including troubleshooting, wiring, motor controls, starters, and conduit work.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician performing routine and emergency repairs on mechanical equipment.
- Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatics, including component diagnosis and repair (nice to have).
- Experience with conveyors, boilers, and wastewater treatment systems is a plus.
- Working knowledge of PLCs and basic ladder logic troubleshooting (nice to have).
- Fabrication and welding skills desirable for on-the-spot repairs and fixture builds (nice to have).
- Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics, and follow detailed technical instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work various shifts, overtime, and respond to emergency calls as required; valid drivers license and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
