Position SummaryUnder general supervision, the Housing Plumber performs the full range of skilled journey-level plumbing work including maintenance and repair to campus plumbing fixtures; maintenance of campus plumbing equipment and systems; clear, clean, and maintain sewer lines and storm drains; review of campus construction and renovation project drawings to ensure compliance with campus standards and applicable codes; perform inspections on construction and remodel projects;
lay out and install plumbing on new in-house construction and remodeling projects; etc.

Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.
Work HoursMonday - Friday 7:00 a.m.
- 3:30 p.m. Work hours may include evening and weekends, dependent on department needs. Position works on-site.

Work requires thorough knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade; a base knowledge of the operation of building automation systems; and a thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal health and safety orders and regulations pertaining to the plumbing trade, including the California State Safety Orders of the Division of Industrial Safety and the California State Plumbing codes.
Must be able to perform skilled plumbing work on all applicable equipment and systems; perform applicable welding work; obtain necessary backflow prevention licenses; make rough sketches of plumbing installations; read and work from blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications; estimate materials and labor cost of standard plumbing maintenance and repair work; maintain records and retrieve data related to work performed using manual and/or computerized record-keeping systems;
provide instruction to unskilled and semi-skilled assistants; analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations; prepare standard reports; read and write at the level appropriate to the position; and perform arithmetic calculations as required by the position.
Incumbents will be required to possess a California Driver’s License valid for the operation of any vehicle or equipment they are required to maintain and operate.
ExperienceThese abilities normally would be acquired through any combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard plumber’s apprenticeship program.
