Schedule:
Monday– Friday, Day Shift 9/80 Work Week
We are seeking a Housing Program Technician I to provide technical and customer service support for housing assistance programs. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience managing caseloads, working with clients, reviewing documentation, and following program regulations and established procedures. The Housing Program Technician I will assist applicants, tenants, and property owners while ensuring eligibility, recertifications, inspections, leases, and program requirements are completed accurately and in compliance with applicable housing regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage an assigned caseload and maintain accurate, confidential case files. Counsel applicants, tenants, and property owners regarding housing program rules and requirements. Process annual, interim, and special recertifications. Review applications and documentation to determine initial and continuing eligibility. Issue vouchers and process participant transfers as applicable. Conduct client interviews, orientations, and program briefing sessions. Review and apply applicable HUD rules, regulations, and program policies.
Coordinate and schedule Housing Quality Standards inspections. Communicate with landlords regarding rent negotiations and housing program requirements. Verify property ownership and review relevant tenant documentation. Evaluate unlawful detainer reports and credit/background information. Monitor repayment agreements and case files for program violations. Prepare reports, correspondence, and other required documentation. Respond to public inquiries by phone and in writing. Assist with disputes, conflicts, tenant conferences, reviews, hearings, and related proceedings.
Participate in community outreach, presentations, and informational seminars. Perform additional duties and provide support as assigned.
Required:
High school diploma or GED. At least 2 years of experience in a similar position performing substantially similar duties. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interpret and follow policies, procedures, and regulations. Professional and compassionate customer service approach.
Preferred Experience:
Housing assistance or affordable housing programs. Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher programs. HUD regulations and compliance. Case management or eligibility determination. Property management or landlord/tenant services. Government or public-sector customer service.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable working with the public, and able to handle sensitive documentation with accuracy and professionalism.
