The ILS Instructor is a full-time, on-site role based in Sacramento, CA, responsible for teaching Independent Living Skills to individuals in community and home settings. Day-to-day tasks include assessing participant needs, developing individualized skill-building plans, and providing hands-on instruction in areas such as budgeting, meal preparation, household management, personal organization, and community navigation. The instructor will document progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with participants, families, and care teams to support goal achievement.

The role also involves transporting or accompanying participants to appointments and community activities, modeling appropriate social and safety behaviors, and following all program policies, privacy standards, and safety procedures. The ILS Instructor contributes to a positive, supportive environment and participates in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.

• Ability to teach and model independent living skills, including home management, budgeting, meal planning, and personal organization.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse individuals, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Organizational and documentation abilities to maintain accurate service notes, progress reports, and schedules.
• Capacity to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and adapt instruction to each participant’s needs.
• Knowledge of community resources, public transportation, and local services that support independent living.
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, cultural competence, and commitment to respecting participant choice and autonomy.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in social services, psychology, education, or related field preferred.
• Prior experience in human services, ILS instruction, mental health, or developmental disability support is highly beneficial.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to meet any agency driving and background check requirements.
