Overview
Under direction of Information Technology Supervisor II, ITS I acts as an application architecture and senior developer to develop complex solutions with wide range of tools and technologies. The incumbent works both independently and cooperatively with other Information Technology staff performing high level technical work around analysis, design, planning and implementation using a holistic approach for the successful development and execution of strategy.
Responsibilities- Provide knowledge of the Department's data processing environments and standards while performing the duties of application architect including developing conceptual designs, data models and resource estimates; defining project work activities, timelines and system constraints; and design and development of the most complex systems and interface configurations.
- Develop sophisticated system capabilities, design and implement cloud based solutions, develop required interfaces between internal and external systems. Duties will include client and vendor interaction to obtain information used to customize and develop the most complex software to achieve the desired results as well as the expertise in the development tools and languages required to develop and maintain complex applications, resolve complex technical problems with application and/or infrastructure including but not limited to system performance issues, and the ability to write complex scripts and procedures, analyze data and situations, reason logically, identify problems, draw valid conclusions, and develop effective solutions.

This position is located in the California Justice Information Services Division, Application Development Bureau, Division of Law Enforcement (DLE), Biometrics & Prescription Drugs Monitoring Program Systems Branch, Solutions Development Services Section, DLE Applications Unit.
Range CriteriaALTERNATE RANGE CRITERIA 484;
Established 1/31/18, Pay Letters 18-04 and 18-05. Range A applies to persons who do not meet the criteria for Range B or
C. Range B applies to persons who meet the Minimum Qualifications for the classification and who have completed two years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I. Range C applies to persons who meet the Minimum Qualifications and have four years of additional experience. When requirements are met, the employee shall receive a rate under California Code of Regulations, title 2, section 599.676;
upon movement to Range C, section 599.674 applies.
