Application Developer

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Information Systems Division (ISD), is seeking an Information Technology Specialist I (Application Developer) to join the Innovation Product Section. This is an exciting opportunity for an IT professional who is passionate about developing innovative solutions, implementing modern technologies, and delivering applications that support critical public services for the State of California.

Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, you will design, develop, maintain, and support complex software applications and middleware components. You'll work with modern technologies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing solutions that support DMV's business objectives.

• Design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise software applications and middleware components.
• Develop application enhancements and resolve complex technical issues.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot critical production incidents.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Collaborate with technical teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Serve as a subject matter expert by applying industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Support application deployments, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Proven experience with Spring Boot.
• Knowledge of ReactJS.
• Familiarity with AWS services.
• Knowledge of Docker for containerizing applications.
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Familiarity with Salesforce.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical teams and business stakeholders.
