Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor)
Under the direction of the Branch Chief of the Office of Commercial Vehicle Operations, a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor), the incumbent serves as a Transportation Engineer (Civil) in the Transportation Permits Issuance Branch. The incumbent is responsible for tasks related to determining if trucks, longer buses, and motor-homes (over 40 feet up to 45 feet) meet legal size and weight. This includes performing engineering analyses of vehicle turning characteristics and highway geometrics;
overseeing vehicle size and weight restrictions on public roadways; and consulting with trucking customers, industry associations, the public, and other governmental agencies.
Candidates are required to review the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) for this classification. If you meet MQs under Pattern II and require the TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam, DO NOT TAKE the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle. Candidates who take the TE Civil online exam prior to passing the written hurdle may negatively impact their hiring eligibility.

For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.
