JOB TITLE: ECE Support Staff 7.44 hrs/day M-Th

REPORTS TO: Child Development Coordinator/Instructor

JOB DESCRIPTION: To maintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.

SPECIFIC

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Creates and maintains an environment for children that provides choices and variety appropriate to their development potential - indoors and out.
• Designs and conducts a program that:
  • Generates activities to promote the age appropriate, physical, cognitive, language, social, emotional and creative development of the children present;
  • Arranges indoor/outdoor activity time, quiet/active time, supervised free choice/teacher directed activities, individual, small group and large group opportunities, and small/large muscle development activities;
  • Designs activities, which enhance development of self-help skills, independence and a sense of responsibility;
  • Organizes time and activities, which will provide for the basic needs of children for food, rest, toileting, body movement and adjustment to difficult situations, such as parental separation and fatigue;
  • Provides opportunity for each child to individually interact with an understanding and supportive adult; and
  • Sets up opportunities, weather permitting, for each child to spend some portion of every day outside.
• Composes and prepares weekly lesson plans to be approved by the Child Development Coordinator.
• Supervises and maintains the daily operation of equipment and materials in assigned room.
• Compiles market orders and shops for center supplies.
• Develops and implements a parent involvement program approved by the Child Development Coordinator.
• Reviews a progress file on each child with teachers on a periodical basis.
• Supervises high school students fulfilling lab hours.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
