Position: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNPs) or Physician Assistant (PAs)

Overview

Naph Care is hiring Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) to join our team of medical professionals in Safford, Arizona, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for the individuals who are currently incarcerated in the Arizona Department of Corrections.

Pay rates range from $65.00 to $71.00 per hour based on shift, site needs, hire status, and experience. Full‑time and part‑time positions may be available.

As a Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents. Working within a controlled environment, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a range of medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct physical examinations, develop treatment plans, and monitor patients.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Administer medications and provide instructions to patients.
  • Monitor and document patient health, including vital signs and medical histories.
  • Provide direct patient care, triage, assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate services.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, provide first aid, and ensure timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities.
  • Educate patients on preventive care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention.
  • Understand and adhere to correctional facility security protocols while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate medical records, document treatment plans, and report relevant information.
  • Conduct rounds, evaluate patients returning from off‑site treatment.
  • Admit and discharge patients from the facility.
Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate).
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in the state.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Appropriate collaborative agreement with the on‑site Physician.
  • Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
  • Board‑recognized certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties.
  • Strong organizational skills to track patient treatment plans and progress notes.
  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and in a team.
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus.
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Capabilities

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
