Description:
To perform the installation, maintenance, alterations, and repairs to plumbing systems, steam distribution systems, heating distribution piping and related equipment.
- Performs plumbing tasks to include: installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems, water, gas, sewage and related equipment on overhead and underground piping, manual and automatic valves, storage tanks, pumps, fire suppression systems, etc.
- Installs, maintains, repairs and overhauls interior and plumbing systems, lift pumps, and gas piping systems and equipment.
- This work includes installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes and accessory equipment, placing and connecting fixtures and facilities including sinks, lavatories, water coolers, water closets, ice machines, safety valves and dish washing machines.
- Installs and maintains and repairs low pressure steam distribution systems on overhead and underground piping, manual and automatic valves, safety valves, pumps, traps, etc.
- Installs, maintains, overhauls and repairs interior and exterior steam systems, radiators, and hot water piping networks.
- Performs preventative maintenance assignments on all types of plumbing and low-pressure steam distribution equipment using accepted and established methods and procedures.
- Follows prescribed preventative schedules, check fixtures fittings, valves, steam traps, etc. for leaks and other defects, repairs or replaces components, adjusts valves or initiates work requests for repairs as appropriate.
- Upon request performs inspections of service and construction contract jobs to ensure contractor's compliance with the contract documents. Reports findings to requester.
- Performs duties as plumbing leader during summer months in assigning tasks to subordinates, checking schedules and ensuring economic use of materials. Ensures safety equipment is provided and used and that safety procedures are followed.
Education/
Experience:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each principle duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary. Trade school diploma or equivalent plus seven years' experience in a similar position.
