Part-Time Skilled Clerical Police Department – Support Services Division
The City of Saginaw Police Department is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused professional to join our Support Services Division as a Part-Time Skilled Clerical employee. As the first point of contact for the Police Department, you'll play an essential role in providing exceptional customer service while supporting the daily administrative operations of the department.
Major Duties- Serve as the first point of contact by greeting visitors, answering questions, screening inquiries, and directing individuals to the appropriate personnel or resources.
- Assist members of the public by receiving walk-in and telephone complaints, preparing preliminary incident reports, and entering reports into the department's records management system.
- Process releases for impounded vehicles by preparing required documentation and coordinating with vehicle owners, authorized representatives, and towing companies.
- Review and redact Law Enforcement Information Network (LEIN) information from records before public release.
- Collect and process payments for police records, permits, fines, and other authorized transactions in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Perform data entry, maintain filing systems, and operate standard office equipment.
- Perform other related clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

Job RequirementsEducation and Experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six (6) months of experience performing administrative support, clerical, customer service, or office support functions.
Knowledge of
- General office practices, procedures, and administrative support functions.
- Business communication practices, including professional correspondence and customer service principles.
- Records management practices.
- Cash handling procedures.
Skill in
- Microsoft Office applications, data entry, and operation of standard office equipment, with the ability to learn department-specific software systems.
Ability to
- Communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, with a diverse range of internal staff, law enforcement personnel, and external stakeholders.
- Organize work, manage multiple tasks, and complete assignments accurately and concurrently.
- Keep privileged information confidential.
- Provide courteous, professional, and effective customer service.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports, logs, and files.
- Maintain composure while interacting with upset or emotional individuals.
- Exercise sound judgment when handling confidential or sensitive information.
- Accurately process multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
Open to SEIU hourly members and the public
