Summary
Saginaw Township Community Schools district, serves approximately 4,400 students (K-12). Recent curricular enhancements include the implementation of Units of Study for Language Arts, Reveal Math, STEM-based science programs, and a comprehensive Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support framework.
Hemmeter Elementary is the gifted and talented magnet school in Saginaw Township Community Schools. It serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Hemmeter is a Blue Ribbon Award winning school and recently was named one of the best "Michigan Elementary Schools" by U.S. News and World Report.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the school curriculum and state standards
- Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes learning and student participation
- Must possess knowledge and understanding of elementary school classroom management and organization, current best practices in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies teaching and learning
- Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessment tools
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Use a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to plan and coordinate school-wide events and activities
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of student attendance, grades, and behavior
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and any concerns
- Knowledge and experience administering and using a variety of performance assessments
- Regular in‑person attendance required
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification for elementary education in the state.
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in upper elementary is preferred but not required.
- Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Passion for working with children and fostering their academic and personal growth.
- Approximately 185 workdays (August–June)
- Compensation per Saginaw Township Education Association (STEA) collective bargaining agreement:
- $46,041 starting salary (Bachelor's, no experience)
- $53,882 starting salary (Master’s, no experience)
- Contract through July 31, 2027
