Early Learning Lead Teacher

The YMCA of Saginaw is seeking an enthusiastic Early Learning Lead Teacher who is passionate about working with children and supporting their learning. As the Early Learning Lead Teacher, you will support the YMCA Early Learning Center program year-round. The Lead Teacher is responsible for utilizing a developmentally appropriate curriculum to meet the learning needs of preschool age children. The Lead teacher will work with parent involvement and education, provide child and program assessment and evaluation, and partner with the community.

• Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, and be able to relate well with children.
• Must be at least 19-years old nad have 1 year experience/480 hours in Early CHildhood Education and a Preschool Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Birth to 5 CDA required.
• Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred.
• Posess or obain within 90-days of hire, CPR and 1st Aid certifications.
• Must be able to work closely and effectively with other caregivers in accordance with program goals and licensing rules.

Support the YMCA Early Learning Center program year-round. Treat all children with love, respect, and dignity. Plan daily activities to impact the unique needs of children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Implement activities designed to teach children concepts and build skills through play and hands‑on learning experiences using the Standards of Quality, Curriculum Guidelines, National YMCA Program Guidelines, and licensing criteria for early preschool programs.

Provide communication and opportunities for parents to be involved with the program. Provide and maintain documentation for children’s files including attendance, emergency information, and other reporting criteria. Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Participate in staff meetings. Learn and practice emergency procedures. Attend at least 24 hours of staff development conferences, workshops, or seminars on Early Childhood Education. Know and follow mandated reporting procedures.

Participate in assessment, evaluation, and goal setting. Always maintain a professional attitude serving as a representative of and role model for the YMCA.

Work schedule for up to 40 hours per week. Wage range of $19‑$21/hourly. Benefits available as described in our Personal Policy. Located at the YMCA of Saginaw in Saginaw, MI.
