Project Engineer, Civil Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY

Spicer Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Transportation Highway & Roadway Technical Service Group. The Project Engineer will produce designs for a variety of transportation infrastructure projects including major highways, roadways, and related infrastructure. The role involves conducting feasibility studies, project cost estimates, creating and preparing engineering plans, specifications, and technical calculations. The Project Engineer will also visit client construction sites, attend client and project meetings, and perform project research to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Lead and contribute to the design and development of transportation infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with design teams to prepare and develop engineering plans, specifications, and technical calculations.
• Utilize engineering software tools such as AutoCAD/Civil 3D and Micro Station/ORD to develop project designs.
• Apply advanced knowledge in transportation roadway design to develop efficient solutions.
• Use critical thinking skills to resolve complex problems within plan sets.
• Provide technical guidance and support to Design Engineers, technical staff, and project team members.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare project cost estimates.
• Perform client construction site visits and inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications, standards, and regulations.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and engineers to ensure project objectives are met.
• Attend client and project meetings.
• Work closely with Project Managers on project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
• Prioritize tasks and demonstrate accountability to deliver high quality projects.
• Assist the marketing team with generating project proposals.

• Minimum 4 years of civil engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in transportation roadway infrastructure projects.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Michigan.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Micro Station/ORD, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively with clients.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license within one year of hire.
