Financial Aid Advisor

Department: Administration

Reports to: Director of Financial Aid Operations

Responsibilities
  • Oversee financial aid operations for multiple campus locations.
  • Ensure highest standards for all aspects of the financial aid process.
  • Provide customer service and maintain relationships with other departments.
  • Package potential and new enrollments and active students, maintaining low past‑due levels through quality processing and reduced rejects.
  • Conduct quarterly audits of student accounts receivables.
  • Provide regular reporting and assist with staff training.
  • Perform federal student financial aid calculations in compliance with federal regulations.
  • Recommend process updates to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in audits and investigate questions in annual audits (federal, state, institutional).
  • Travel among campuses consistently.
Qualifications
  • College degree in an appropriate field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of financial aid experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive positive results and improve quality.
  • In‑depth knowledge of financial aid regulations and related laws.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and decisions.
  • Student‑focused individual with a passion for education.
  • Willingness to work hours in excess of a typical work week when necessary.
  • Eligibility to access federal student aid systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong time‑management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and professionalism.
  • Excellent written communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, innovative, solutions‑oriented, self‑directed with problem‑solving expertise.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands; flexibility to rearrange priorities to meet changing workload.
  • Capable of working independently and as a team player, coordinating multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Basic office equipment proficiency.
