Peri-Op Support Associate

Summary

This position performs basic patient care activities for patients in assigned areas.

• Assist with treatments ordered by physicians and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Other duties as assigned.

• BLS:
  Basic Life Support
• PCT: MMH PCT/CNA/EMT/LPN Certification – acceptance of equivalent credentials includes registered medical assistants, certified nursing assistants, EMTs, licensed practical nurses, or completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an accredited registered nurse program.

• High school education.
• Equivalent experience within 1 month of hire or transfer (required for various certifications).
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment.
• Follows standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required.

• Exposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief, and death.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex materials or appropriate substitutes.
• Ability to move freely about the facility with or without an assisted device and perform all job functions.
• Overall vision and hearing necessary, with or without assistive devices.
• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk for long periods; may need postural changes such as stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Some exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other infectious material; must follow My Michigan Health blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing as required.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, maintain regular attendance, and stay awake during duties.
• Overall dexterity required for handling, reaching, grasping, fingering, and feeling; may involve repetitive movements.
• Physical demand level:
  Medium. Occasional lift 21‑50 lbs, frequent lift 20 lbs, constant light load 10 lbs.
