Overview
The Counseling Director provides oversight of the counseling services team and integrated programs according to industry best standards, quality assurance, and the Agency Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities1. Responsible for efficient and effective management of Shelterhouse’s counseling services team and identified, integrated programs; collaborates with housing programs leadership, as required.
2. Directs, supervises, and evaluates work activities of counseling team members.
3. Conducts and administers operating guidelines and fiscal compliance of counseling team programs, including: client assignment, assisting with budgeting, staff expenditure authorizations, establishing client service expectations, and coordinating financial reporting.
4. Measures, analyzes, and acts on client outcomes for all responsible programs.
5. Abides by policies and procedures set forth by the Agency.
6. Provides input to the Director of Client & Community Advocacy concerning counseling and advocacy strategic goal development, implementation, and reporting.
7. Develops programming from a client-centered, trauma-informed, and empowerment perspective.
8. Develops and coaches team members; conducts performance reviews in accordance with Agency procedures.
9. Maintains a specified and agreed upon productivity rate (caseload) in providing advocacy, counseling, education, and support to clients and their families.
10. Attends Agency meetings based on Agency requirements, licensure, and credentialing requirements.
11. Assists in the development of organizational policies and procedures per VAWA/VOCA and HIPAA standards.
12. Maintains confidential, accurate, and timely client records and program documentation.
13. Maintains current and unrestricted licensure in the State of Michigan.
14. Other duties as assigned.

- Ability to think critically, problem solve, and manage multiple priorities
- Effective leadership and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to maintain confidence and protect operations by keeping all information confidential
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and volunteers
- Ability to contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks, as needed.
This position requires a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or social work and current full licensure in the State of Michigan. Experience working with individuals, families, and groups and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and/or trauma. Experience providing supervision to staff, willingness to work a flexible schedule (at least one evening until 8:00PM), valid driver’s license, proof of valid/current auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
Must pass pre-employment and annual screenings and background checks.
Experience working with people in crisis.

Pay: $66,860.00 - $81,718.00 per year
