We're hiring a Machinist in Saginaw, Michigan to help create the high-quality aircraft components that keep our customers flying around the world. What You'll Do- Equipment Setup & Operation: Plan, layout, set up, and operate CNC horizontal and vertical lathes and mills to machine complex and precision parts. Perform machining operations including turning, boring, facing, threading, and milling using castings, forgings, and bar stock.
- Tooling & Process Development: Develop and utilize jigs, fixtures, and other tooling necessary to efficiently complete machining assignments. Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance quality, productivity, and safety.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect work using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, height gages, dial indicators, calipers, and scales. Ensure components meet exact specifications and uphold Textron Aviation's commitment to quality.
- Production Support: Complete customer product requirements associated with work orders. Identify discrepancies in setup or run times and collaborate with leadership to resolve issues.
- Documentation & Data Control: Maintain programs, tool lists, job packets, and related manufacturing documentation.
- Equipment Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area. Support safety and quality initiatives and stop production when quality concerns are identified.
- Team Support: Share knowledge and provide guidance or training to fellow machinists as needed.
- High school diploma, equivalent certificate, or Bronze Level Work Keys certification required; technical trade certification preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Minimum one year of diversified machine shop and/or tooling experience.
- Knowledge of advanced shop mathematics and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to lift materials and products up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment requiring personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
