General Production Associate
This role supports a high-volume, 24/7 plastic extrusion manufacturing operation in multiple production departments. You will train on day shift and then transition to evening or overnight shifts, working on various lines such as Laminator, Knitting, Roll Converter, and Extruder. The position is hands-on and physically active, involving machine support, quality monitoring, material handling, and adherence to safety and production standards.
Responsibilities- Assist production on the Laminator, Knitting, Roll Converter, and Extruder lines as assigned.
- Perform core extracting on multiple areas of each production line using appropriate tools and lift-assist equipment.
- Monitor the extrusion process closely to identify and respond to quality issues in real time.
- Wrap rolls of finished product and prepare materials for packaging or further processing.
- Mix chemicals according to established procedures and safety guidelines to support the extrusion process.
- Use lift assist devices and other equipment to safely handle materials and components.
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift, including bending, twisting, pulling, and pushing an air bar into cores.
- Stand for long periods of time and move throughout the production area as needed.
- Walk up and down stairs and work on catwalks in certain roles, maintaining comfort with working at heights.
- Perform general production tasks such as assembly, packaging, inspection, and machine operation as required.
- Inspect products for defects and ensure they meet quality standards and documentation requirements.
- Operate production machinery safely and efficiently, following all operating procedures.
- Communicate regularly with supervisors and other team members to report progress, share data, and identify action items.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn during training and daily operations.
- Follow all safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous manufacturing experience in a production environment.
- Previous machine operation experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to work assigned schedule, including rotating shifts and overnight hours, and consistently arrive on time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, twisting, pushing, and pulling throughout the shift.
- Comfort working in a large industrial facility, including on stairs and catwalks where heights may be involved.
- Strong work ethic, good attitude, and willingness to perform all aspects of the job.
- Basic problem-solving skills and analytical ability to identify issues and support continuous improvement.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and team members, including reporting progress and explaining data or action items.
- Attention to quality and ability to monitor production processes for potential defects.
Skills & Qualifications
- Approximately 2 years of recent manufacturing experience with the same employer is preferred.
- Experience with general production tasks such as assembly, packaging, inspection, and machine operation.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly in production or general labor roles.
- Attention to detail and accurate documentation of production and quality information.
- Comfort using lift-assist equipment and handling chemicals in accordance with safety procedures.
- Ability to adapt to different departments and learn multiple production processes.

The role is based in a very large plastic extrusion manufacturing facility operating 24/7 with multiple departments and varying shift times. Positions are available in areas such as Recycling and Accessories, with training typically conducted on day shift before transitioning to evening or overnight schedules (including 3rd shift and rotating 2-3-2 or 4-on/4-off patterns). The environment is industrial and fast-paced, with continuous production lines and frequent material handling.
Employees must wear full personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, ear plugs, and steel toe or composite safety shoes; some departments also require respirators.
