The Structural Steel Fabricator role is a full-time, on-site position based in Saginaw, MI. This role involves reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, measuring and cutting steel components, and performing fitting, drilling, and assembly of structural and miscellaneous steel. The fabricator will operate hand and power tools, grinding equipment, and material handling equipment to prepare and finish steel parts according to specifications.
Daily responsibilities include inspecting work for quality and accuracy, following safety procedures, and collaborating with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules. The role also requires maintaining a clean, organized work area and assisting with loading, unloading, and moving materials as needed.
- Ability to perform metalworking tasks, including cutting, drilling, fitting, and assembling structural steel components.
- Proficiency with hand tools and grinding equipment used in steel fabrication and finishing.
- Experience operating power tools commonly used in fabrication, such as saws, drills, and impact tools.
- Skills in forklift operation and safe material handling in a fabrication or industrial environment.
- Experience reading and interpreting fabrication drawings and basic measurements.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including use of PPE and adherence to company safety policies.
- Strong attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Previous structural or miscellaneous steel fabrication experience preferred; vocational or technical training in welding or fabrication is a plus.
