Production Supervisor

GM Saginaw Production Supervisor - 3 Openings Daily breakdown –

• Group leader meeting at the start of every shift
• The hourly teams will have a team leader that will review the rotation log and will know where they are going for the day
• Using Chronus – this is for timekeeping to see who is on vacation or who did not show up that day, based on this may need to move around some of the operators. Will coordinate with the team leaders on where people need to go, if needed
• Documentation – document what is happening throughout the day, fill out an end of shift log, talk to the group leaders on the next shift and talk to them about what they need to be aware of there will be cross shift communications
• BPD (Business Plan Deployment) boards – track certain metrics that they need to fill out every day, audits that need to be done, safety/quality audits

• Team structure - manage upwards of 40 hourly employees, skilled trades, operators, etc. Supervisors/Group Leaders manage the people who use the equipment, work on the line, assembly where they have hourly operators. They will interact with production, quality, possibly other departments.

• Education Requirement:
  High School Diploma
• Years of experience: 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
• Previous experience working with a union environment – nice to have
• Previous leadership experience – nice to have
• Report outs to upper leadership and meet metrics/goal setting
• Problem solving skills – very important to have
• Soft skills – being able to lead a team and being a leader rather than a boss, being able to get the job done, knowing how to speak respectfully to people

• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing environment
• Computer skills – Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Ability to work cross functionally with other teams

• 1st Shift: 0600 - 1500
• 2nd Shift: 1400 - 2300
• 3rd Shift: 2200 – 0700

As a Production Group Leader, you are responsible for the effective use of personnel, material, and equipment. Participates in training, developing and evaluating of hourly team members. Participates in the development of highly effective teams. Leads Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes and serves as resource supporting launch and pilot activities in assigned areas. Meets or exceeds production cost schedule and maintains quality requirements.

Maintains awareness of quality standards, and communicates department quality goals, and leverages resources to solve quality issues. Builds and maintains good working relationships with employees, union and management. Understands and consistently administer the National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. Implements and follows systems that prevent reoccurrence of known issues. Promote safe work practices and achieve objectives for ergonomics, health and safety and housekeeping.

Motivates, trains and develops employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods. Ensure team members receive adequate JIT (job instruction training). Achieve production schedules and product requirements by applying lean manufacturing/synchronous principles with emphasis on variation reduction, control costs, and achieve productivity improvements.

• Understands and follows established processes in their area and knows how to use systems and technologies to accomplish work assignments. Typically has practical working experience in all processes within their area.
• Provides instructions to direct reports on course of action and serves as a resource for them on standardized work, quality standards and processes within the area, as well as relevant company policies and procedures.
