Summary

14,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates. The Registered Nurse provides direct care to patients using the nursing process. This includes ongoing assessment of the total patient, interventions to treat presenting symptoms, evaluation of the effect of nursing interventions and patient responses, and functioning as a team leader and resource. The RN delegates, oversees, and provides direction to support staff and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to establish goals and outcomes for each patient.

The RN is responsible for meeting the needs of all types of patients.

Responsibilities
  • 40%:
    Regularly assess patient’s needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician‑authorized plan of care and accepted standards of evidence‑based nursing practice.
  • 30%:
    Provide direct patient care including medication administration, treatments, education, call lights, assistance with transfers, response to alarms, and other duties as appropriate.
  • 20%:
    Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plan and make suggestions or participate in updating/revising the plan in collaboration with other team members, using current information to improve patient care.
  • 10%:
    Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal regulations and guidelines and hospital‑specific policies and procedures related to care provided in the medical center.
  • Other duties:
    Demonstrate My Michigan Health mission, vision, and values; maintain a courteous, professional demeanor; interpret information and report data to physicians; educate patient/family based on assessed learning needs; organize and prioritize patient groups; instruct team members; document accurately; participate in regulatory surveys; performance improvement activities; assist with orientation and competencies; provide a safe environment; maintain current knowledge; participate in emergency procedures; assist with central line, chest tube, catheter insertion and care;

    perform routine care of various drains and tubes; provide wound and ostomy care; perform CVP readings and PCA monitoring; obtain doppler pulses; assist with heparin therapy; apply basic traction, splints, braces, CPM machines; assist with cast care; maintain hip and knee precautions.
Certifications and Licensures
  • Registered Nurse (RN) – current.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – current within 12 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – current within 1 month of hire.
  • Telemetry (DIMC) – competency through testing or monitoring & management class within 12 months of hire.
Required Education

Associate degree in Nursing (required). Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

Other Information

Interpersonal skills are required to communicate successfully with individuals and groups. Must demonstrate knowledge, ability, and competence in treating unit‑specific patient populations. Must follow My Michigan Health blood‑borne pathogen and TB testing as required and have competency in Microsoft Windows. Specialty certification preferred.

  • Exposure to stressful situations, including public contact, trauma, grief, and death.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to move freely around the facility with or without an assisted device.
  • Requires overall vision and hearing.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and change posture.
  • Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and must comply with testing.
  • Must handle multiple tasks, work independently, be regularly present, and maintain alertness.
  • Requires dexterity for handling, reaching, grasping, and repetitive movements.
  • Physical demand level:
    Medium. Occasionally lift or carry 21–50 lbs (0–33% of the workday), frequently 34–66% of the workday 20 lbs, and constantly 67–100% of the workday 10 lbs.
