Major Duties- Performs preventive maintenance on chemical feed systems, pumps, boilers, plant equipment and facilities; makes adjustments, repairs, and replacements based on written, verbal, and technical instructions.
- Performs general plant maintenance, including painting, equipment repair, lubrication, roofing, masonry, and other building and equipment upkeep tasks.
- Unloads and handles treatment chemicals and supplies, including lime, ferric chloride, carbon, sodium hypochlorite, fluoride, and polymers.
- Cleans and maintains chemical feed equipment, clarifiers, wet wells, filters, and basins; performs general housekeeping duties. Ensure chemical day tanks are filled and feed systems operate properly.
- Assists with repairs on complex machinery; assists Plant Electricians in maintaining and repairing electrical equipment.
- Serves as a lead worker, providing guidance and training to Plant Laborers and temporary staff.
- Performs seasonal grounds maintenance at the water plant and related properties, including mowing, trimming, landscaping, snow removal; installs and removes holiday lighting and displays.
- Troubleshoots and performs problem resolution regarding equipment issues; follows maintenance schedules and standard procedures to complete preventive maintenance and assigned projects.
- Maintains inventory records of treatment chemical quantities and completes related reports; documents work performed and maintains accurate service records within the plant maintenance program.
- Adheres to all utility security policies and procedures, including those outlined in the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and Risk and Resilience Assessment (RRA) documentation, to ensure the ongoing security and resilience of the water system's infrastructure, operations, and water quality.

Job RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Apprenticeship or formal training in machine shop operations, including lathe, milling machine, drill press, and welding, preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Plant Laborer I or two (2) years progressively responsible experience in building, grounds, or equipment maintenance.
- Ability to obtain Aerial Lift Operator Training and Forklift Operator Certification within one (1) year of start in position.
- Possess and maintain a State of Michigan Driver's License.
- Safety practices, including OSHA standards and safe work procedures in an industrial environment.
- Recordkeeping and maintenance documentation practices.
- Confined space and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Use of diagnostic/testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
- Reading and interpreting maintenance manuals, diagrams, and blueprints and apply them in daily work.

- Prepare and maintain maintenance reports, logs, and inventory records
