Journeyman Electrician

The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in keeping a high-volume manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently. In this role, you troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues on equipment such as roll converters, extrusion lines, automated assembly lines, and systems utilizing hydraulics and pneumatics. You work with industrial controls, including 480V electrical systems and PLCs, to support production reliability and facility upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a wide range of manufacturing equipment, including roll converters, extrusion lines, automated assembly lines, and related machinery.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery to ensure reliable operation and extend equipment life.
• Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned maintenance tasks.
• Maintain facility infrastructure and associated equipment to support a safe and efficient work environment.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance vendors and service providers to coordinate repairs, installations, and upgrades.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and in orderly condition in accordance with company standards.
• Complete and submit company purchase requisitions for parts, tools, and materials needed for maintenance work.
• Install machinery, equipment, and electrical components, and test systems to ensure proper functioning and adherence to specifications.
• Ensure all machinery and equipment comply with applicable federal, state, and company safety standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, instructions, and operations manuals to perform installations, repairs, and fabrication tasks.
• Perform fabrication work as needed to modify, repair, or improve equipment and components.
• Support machine installation, machine repair, and ongoing machine maintenance, including CNC and other automated equipment.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to manage multiple maintenance tasks and priorities.
• Adhere to excellent safety practices and maintain a strong attendance record.
• Work overtime as required to support production needs and respond to urgent maintenance issues.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong electrical skills, including experience with 480V industrial electrical systems.
• Hands-on experience with industrial controls and PLC troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience with electrical maintenance and electrical troubleshooting in an industrial setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, instructions, and operations manuals.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform physical labor, including lifting and operating machinery.
• Experience with fabrication, including working from blueprints to modify or create components.
• Demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on a variety of manufacturing equipment.
• Excellent safety record and strong, reliable attendance.
• Ability to work overtime when required to meet production and maintenance demands.
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment.
• Experience in machine repair, machine installation, and machine maintenance, including CNC equipment.
• Experience in a manufacturing setting with extrusion processes.
• Comfort working with mechanical and electrical systems in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines.
• Ability to collaborate with vendors and external service providers on maintenance projects.
• Experience with industrial preventive maintenance programs.
• Capability to maintain accurate documentation for work orders, purchases, and maintenance activities.
