Position Summary

Perform a key role in maintaining good housekeeping, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitary conditions throughout the facility. Work in a manufacturing environment following appropriate policies and procedures to ensure successful execution of position responsibilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • General housekeeping duties throughout facility including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, trash retrieval, wiping and dusting. Record work completed
  • Clean belts, conveyors, palletizers, and material handling equipment in packaging areas
  • Use a forklift to remove garbage and trash from the facility. Place garbage/trash in a compactor and operate the compactor. Use floor scrubber as scheduled or needed. Keep all process and packaging area floors clean and free of oil, residual product, etc.
  • Complete production supply route including refilling paper towels, toilet paper, soap, hairnets, gloves, beard nets and earplugs, etc. as needed. Organize and keep track of cleaning supplies used in supply route. Conduct weekly inventory of supplies needed for cleaning and supply routes
  • Maintain perimeter lines by mopping, sweeping and repainting as necessary
  • Ensure that ceilings, walls, conveyor and racks are free of dust, dirt and cobwebs. Wipe down control panels and tops of electrical boxes
  • Maintain men’s and women’s dressing rooms and restrooms throughout the facility
  • Pressure wash sidewalks, walkways, tank farm area and other areas, as needed
  • Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1 or more years of experience
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
Knowledge and Skills
  • Must be able to read and write effectively, communicate using the English language and follow instructions
  • Must be able to read and understand safety data sheets (SDS) to understand proper use of chemicals
  • Computer literacy - ability to learn and understand multiple computer applications/systems including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Responsible for operating forklifts, scissor lifts and floor scrubbing equipment. Capable of being forklift licensed/certified
  • Requires excellent observation and auditing skills and a good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Must be able to identify and report any food safety and food security concerns

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours per day. Additional unscheduled time after hours and on weekends may also be required. Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements. In addition, certain jobs may require employees to:

  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity;
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens); and
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.
